Gender Advocacy PrideHacks Project: Missing Justice

Missing Justice is a grassroots solidarity collective that works to raise awareness about violence and discrimination against Indigenous women, girls, Trans and Two-Spirit people living in Quebec. The collective seeks to consult and collaborate with Indigenous communities and organizations to foster understanding and dispel harmful stereotypes commonly held in regards to Indigenous women who are targets of violence. Missing Justice is deeply action-based. Their goals are to raise public awareness and create a safer environment for Indigenous women by tackling issues of systemic racism, sexism, classism and negligence that are present in the media, the justice system and police forces.

This project aims to design and build an accessible and user friendly standalone website to raise awareness and provide support for Indigenous communities in response to the ongoing crisis of missing and murdered Indigenous women, trans, and two-spirit people and men. The goal of this project is to create a website that will feature pages for online memorials, photo galleries, an ecommerce shop to sell physical merchandise, and a timeline of MMIWGT2S activism in Montreal. The website will also need to include a french version.

Expertise Required: website design, website development, front end programming, familiarity with website builders (Wordpress, Wix, etc.), ecommerce platform experience.
